Taylor A. Thane, Ph.D.

Assistant Professor of Chemistry

California State Polytechnic University, Pomona

Taylor began her interest in organic chemistry at the University of San Diego (USD) where she received her B.A. in Chemistry in 2017. Here she worked with Prof. Timothy B. Clark on a borylation/homologation sequence to synthesize beta-silyloxy allylboronate esters. Taylor pursued her graduate studies at the University of California, Irvine (UCI) working under Prof. Elizabeth R. Jarvo. At UCI, Taylor developed and studied Ni-catalyzed cross-electrophile coupling reactions for cyclopropane synthesis. After receiving her Ph.D. from UCI in 2022, Taylor joined the Chemistry and Biochemistry Department at Cal Poly, Pomona as an Assistant Professor. Taylor looks forward to developing new Ni-catalyzed transformations that rapidly build molecular complexity from simple chemical building blocks.
